You don’t see many video game preorder discounts anymore – unless you’re a PC gamer. In that fine tradition, here’s a great deal on Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, which comes out Thursday. Fanatical has Steam codes on sale for $38.49, which amounts to a hefty 23% discount off the $49.99 MSRP. That’s a great deal on a terrific collection of games that appear to run great on PC. This is a preorder deal that ends August 27, the day the game releases — or when Fanatical runs out of codes. In other words, time’s running out, so grab it soon.
Save 23% Off Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 (Steam)
As the “Vol. 2” in the title suggests, this is the second collection of Metal Gear Solid games. The first came out in 2023 and was very well received — as it should be, since it included the first three games in the trilogy, all of which are stone-cold classics. This new collection contains the following games:
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version)
- Metal Gear: Ghost Babel
The most notable inclusion here is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This collection represents the first time that game has ever been available on a platform besides PlayStation 3 (and how many of us still have a PS3 connected to a TV?). It’s a phenomenal game that’s unlike any other and carries the MGS story to its conclusion (MGS 5 is a prequel). Upon its 2008 release, IGN gave MGS4 a 10/10 in our review.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has appeared in previous collections, but it’s an integral part of the MGS story. It originally appeared on PS Vita in 2010 and instantly became one of (if not the) the best games on the platform. It brilliantly translated the series’ console experience into a portable package, with short missions you can pick up and play anytime. But make no mistake, this is a core game in the MGS lore. Greg Miller awarded Peace Walker a 9.5/10 in the official IGN review. And IGN placed it at number 45 on our most recent list of the Best PlayStation Games of All Time.
Finally, there’s Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, which is billed as a “bonus” inclusion in this collection. It’s a non-canon entry that originally released for Game Boy in 2000. It takes place in an alternate continuity from the rest of the Metal Gear Solid games, but is still worth checking out for fans of the franchise.

Personally, I do most of my gaming on Steam Deck, so I preordered this collection at this discounted price. It’ll be great to have Metal Gear Solid 4 on modern platforms for the first time in years. And I’m sure Peace Walker will feel right at home on the handheld hardware. I have my doubts that Ghost Babel will keep me enthralled long enough to complete it, but I’ll definitely check it out.
