Metroid Ravenous is set to launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. A follow-up to Metroid Dread, it’s a new 2D side-scrolling adventure for Samus, the space-faring bounty hunter. The game will be available in two editions, and will launch alongside some new amiibo figures. Read on for full details.
Metroid Ravenous – Special Edition
- Get it at Nintendo Store – $119.99
The special edition of Metroid Ravenous comes with the game, plus the following items:
- Steelbook case
- Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo
Note that this amiibo is exclusive to the special edition and is not available separately.
Metroid Ravenous Amiibo Figures
Releasing alongside the game are two additional amiibos: Samus and Chozo Statue.
Metroid Ravenous – Standard Edition – Not Yet Available
The standard edition comes with the game on the cartridge – something you can’t always count on for Switch 2 games, even first-party titles. Per usual for recent Nintendo releases, physical copies cost $10 more than digital.
Walmart and Amazon have been known to knock $10 physical copies, so keep an eye out for that if you want a physical copy.
What Is Metroid Ravenous?
In the trailer, Samus says, “I was attacked by unknown assailants and sustained grave injuries. I don't know where I am, getting back to the surface won't be easy. My chances of getting off this moon are slim at best. Still… I will survive. And I will make it home. Even if I have to feed on my enemies to do so. It's eat or be eaten."
Sounds like a Metroid game, which means I'm fully on board. Metroid Dread got a 9/10 in its IGN review. It was a tough game, but fair.
